Description
The physical device or software agent is used to determine whether a particular endpoint is allowed to access network resources. A network-access device intercepts traffic to and from an endpoint in order to perform a posture assessment and if necessary, direct traffic through remediation servers before allowing access to the network.
Evaluation Criteria
- The device must be able to support authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA).
- The device must be able to perform posture assessment of endpoints.
- The device must be able to quarantine, restrict, or remediate endpoints as necessary.
- The device must be able to conduct ongoing evaluation of endpoints to ensure compliance with security policies.
- The device should allow for integration with external systems, such as vulnerability scanners or patch management tools.
